BAOBAB OIL

Baobab oil from Senegal is derived from the seeds of the baobab tree (Adansonia digitata), an iconic tree of the country. It is extracted through cold pressing of dried seeds, a method that helps preserve its natural qualities.

The baobab tree is a legendary African tree, known for its longevity and resistance to drought. Its fruit, called "monkey bread," contains a vitamin C-rich pulp and is widely used in traditional medicine. The seeds of the fruit are processed into oil, which is valued for its cosmetic and medicinal properties.

Uses and Benefits of Baobab Oil:

Baobab oil is used to hydrate, nourish, and regenerate the skin, as well as to treat dry and damaged hair. It is also used in massages for its softening and soothing properties.

Our baobab oil is extracted through cold pressing, a method that maintains its essential nutrients and natural properties. This process ensures that the essential fatty acids, antioxidants, and vitamins in the oil remain intact.

It is particularly appreciated for its skin and hair benefits, helping to hydrate, nourish, and protect against dryness.

We collaborate with women specializing in baobab fruit processing, mainly located in central and eastern Senegal. They carefully select the best seeds and supply them to us at an unbeatable price, while adhering to fair trade principles, ensuring the production of high-quality oil.

Tulukuna massage

Touloucouna oil is extracted from the seeds of Carapa procera, a fruit-bearing tree from the Meliaceae family, found in West Africa, particularly in Senegal, Angola, and Cameroon. In Africa, Touloucouna is an important source of non-timber forest products. Traditionally, the oil is extracted by boiling the seeds, a method that ensures an oil rich in cosmetic and medicinal properties. In Casamance (Senegal), only postmenopausal women are allowed to collect and process the seeds into vegetable oil.

Uses and Benefits

Touloucouna oil is highly valued for its soothing and restorative qualities. It is used to:

  • Nourish dry and sensitive skin

  • Relieve joint and muscle pain

  • Reduce skin imperfections

  • Protect against environmental aggressors

Medicinal Properties

Touloucouna oil is a renowned natural remedy in West Africa, offering multiple health benefits:

  • Anti-inflammatory and pain relief: Helps ease joint and muscle pain, particularly in cases of rheumatism and arthritis.

  • Skin condition treatment: Effective against eczema, psoriasis, burns, and ringworm.

  • Antiparasitic action: Used as a natural insect and lice repellent.

  • Wound healing: Promotes skin regeneration and protects against external aggressions.

  • Fever-reducing and cough-relieving properties: Sometimes used in traditional medicine for treating fever and cough.

This oil is also widely used in facial and body care for its nourishing and soothing effects.

Distinctive Taste

Touloucouna oil has a naturally bitter taste, which differentiates it from other vegetable oils. This bitterness comes from its active compounds, which contribute to its medicinal benefits. While its taste is intense, this is precisely what makes it a highly effective natural remedy.

For external applications, the bitterness has no impact, but when consumed, it can be mixed with other ingredients to make the taste more pleasant.

Kedougou Shea Butter

Shea butter from Kédougou ( East of Senegal) comes from the nuts of the shea tree, which grows primarily in West Africa. The Kédougou region is renowned for the quality of its shea butter, which is harvested and processed by local cooperatives, often led by women.

The production process begins with the collection of shea nuts, which are then dried, crushed, and ground to extract the precious fat. This butter is widely used in cosmetics, pharmacology, and even the food industry. Traditionally, shea butter has been used for baby massage in Africa, as it moisturizes, protects, and soothes delicate skin, prevents irritation, and strengthens the parent-child bond. Applied after bathing or to sensitive areas, it forms a natural barrier against cold and external aggressions.

Benefits of Kédougou Shea Butter

  • Intense hydration: Rich in essential fatty acids and vitamins A and E, it nourishes and protects the skin against dryness.

  • Anti-inflammatory properties: Helps soothe skin irritations, redness, and conditions such as eczema.

  • Anti-aging effects: Stimulates collagen production, reducing the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.

  • Protection against external aggressions: Forms a natural barrier against wind, cold, and UV rays.

  • Hair care: Hydrates the scalp, reduces dandruff, and strengthens dry and damaged hair.

  • Healing and repair: Promotes healing of wounds, burns, and stretch marks.

Shea butter can be beneficial for eczema. Thanks to its moisturizing and anti-inflammatory properties, it helps soothe itching, reduce redness, and strengthen the skin barrier. It is particularly useful for dry and sensitive skin, which is often affected by eczema.
